ALAN SMYTH

Alan Smyth has been involved in music all his life and has wide and eclectic tastes which bring a wealth of knowledge and feel to the production table. From his early band days to doing live sound engineering with the likes of Pulp, The Long Pigs and The Darling Buds he soaked up information and techniques which he began to use in his recordings.

"I fell into production... I was just doing my own musical thing when other people/bands started asking me to record them. Before I knew it I was working in some really good studios, firstly as a freelance engineer and then as a producer... at first I didn't realise I was producing, I thought getting involved with the tracks and doing everything I could to make them stand out was just a part of sound engineering... it took a band member to tell me otherwise!”

Over the years he has recorded many varied and classic acts and helped propel some of them into the dizzying heights of success and also receiving a grammy award nomination in the process.

Alans production credits include Pulp, Arctic Monkeys, Reverend and the Makers, The Long Blondes, The Scaramanga Six, Violet May, Nat Johnson and the Figureheads, Milburn, 65daysofstatic, Richard Hawley and many others. Full details can be found here Discography
